Why NFL Fantasy Guide?

WE ARE SORRY: Due to the overwhelming time it takes to keep up with Fantasy Stats, I am no longer creating up to date draft lists and such on this blog.

However, I would like to remind you that the articles are for the most part still good advice to keep to heart when playing Fantasy Football.

NFL Fantasy Guide
Questions

Often in the preseason, there are questions about players. Injuries, position battles and anything that might effect the Fantasy Football Player Rankings. Here I will address some of them.

Pittsburgh Steelers Fantasy Players

Quarterback - Ben Roethlisberger - (Position Rank - 21)
(Passing) 3,300 Yards, 20 TD, 15 IT, 45 Sacks
(Rushing) 100 Yards, 2 TD, 5 Fumbles
Big Ben is a pretty good picture for consistency. In his last three years, he has passed for between 3100 and 3500 yards each year. In his five seasons as a pro, Ben has thrown for either 17 or 18 yards four times. He had one big year with 32 touchdowns. Since that big year was not last season, I have to believe it was an anomaly.

Running Back - Willie Parker - (Position Rank - 32)

(Rushing) 800 Yards, 6 TD, 2 Fumbles
(Receiving) 20 Catches, 150 Yards, 0 TD
Running Back - Rashard Mendenhall - (Position Rank - 36)
(Rushing) 650 Yards, 4 TD, 1 Fumbles
(Receiving) 20 Catches, 100 Yards, 0 TD
Others have Parker ranked higher than I do. I cant help but to see that he gets injured a lot and now will share time with Mendenhall.

Wide Receiver - Hines Ward - (Position Rank - 19)
(Receiving) 80 Catches, 1,000 Yards, 7 TD, 1 Fumbles
Ward is not what is referred to as the sexy pick. What I do know is that he gets the job done every year. Not to mention, last season he stayed healthy for the full 16 games.

Wide Receiver - Santonio Holmes - (Position Rank - 27)
(Receiving) 65 Catches, 930 Yards, 6 TD, 1 Fumbles
Holmes is going a little sooner than 27th receiver in the draft, mainly because of his Superbowl play and because he came into camp with 15 pounds of extra upper body muscle to help him keep from being knocked of his routes. Yet he expected to lose 10 to 15 pounds during camp. Holmes has been very consistent and until he shows different, I placed him at those consistent stats.

Team Defense - (Position Rank - 1)
(Stats) NA
I do not place kickers in this section because they are too much of a crap shoot from year to year. I only place a few defenses, depending on how good they are. Pittsburgh's defense is easily good enough to mention. They get sacks, interceptions and fumbles while giving up very few points. They are especially tough against the rush. I still would not take them until double digit rounds and likely they will be taken earlier. So if you follow my rules, do not expect to get them.
